During the past 5 years, WUAS has made tremendous advancement in its teaching capacity. The number of PhD qualified and researching teaching staff has increased significantly, and in ratio to its size, much faster than other universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands. WUAS has made a strategic commitment to increase its PhD qualified faculty, at Full Time and Part Time levels to represent the majority of teaching staff, by 2021, with at least 40% of academic staff scholarly active.
Students expect a wide range of expertise and a diversity in the teaching of the modules they receive. They often expect their teachers to have not only theoretical knowledge, but also up to date practical experience that can be shared with them in the classroom. At WUAS, students expect a diversity of teachers, both in gender and international representation and at the same time students expect small class sizes and a feeling of connection with their teachers.
