Background

Alberto is a senior lecturer at Wittenborg and an adjunct professor at the University of Bologna where he teaches Tourism Economics. His career in higher education teaching and research started in 2004 when he embarked on a PhD research project in the field of urban political geography and cultural change at the University of Brighton, UK. Over the following years, Alberto has taught on a range of management-specific modules, alongside a wealth of other modules in the areas of sociology and anthropology of tourism applied to the field of international development.

It is with a growing interest in the role of tourism and sport in the sustainable development of some developing countries that he started working both in the Sub-Saharan African and South East Asian contexts, specifically contributing to localised programmes aimed at sustainable tourism development. Alberto is now working on a research project concerning sustainable tourism management in Myanmar focusing on the historical and political challenges that impeded the democratisation of the country.
