Background

Hashem Zarafat, MBA, Lecturer of Applied Sciences, is a business trainer and researcher, and experienced lecturer. He teaches a variety of interdisciplinary courses at prestigious universities and business schools in Munich, Germany. These courses cover topics such as finance, investment, managerial economics, advanced finance, entrepreneurship, venture capital & private equity and management research methods.

Since 2020, Hashem has been lecturing at Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences. He actively participates in the research committees' regular meetings to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in his fields of interest and to refine his expertise. He is a certified accreditation appraiser and has experience writing moderation reports and serving as an internal moderator. He is an active member of research committees and provides valuable feedback to ongoing projects.

An award-winning lecturer and mentor, he has successfully trained many local and international students over the past 14 years. He has supervised and guided over a hundred undergraduate and postgraduate business research projects in various business fields. Recently, Hashem supervised a team of five researchers at the University of Tartu, Estonia, where he is completing his PhD studies in finance and economics. His team worked on creating a solid framework for valuation of BioTech and MedTech startups, and their work was submitted to two ministries in Estonia after being appraised by Enterprise Estonia.

Hashem has experience working in the field of business development and provides consulting services to several startups located in Germany and the United States. He has been a part of the Mentoring and Coaching Network (MNC) at EIT Health since 2019, where he trains entrepreneurs on how to develop strong business plans that accurately reflect their financial projections. He guides entrepreneurs on how to effectively present financial information to potential investors and identify key areas for improvement in their financial planning.

Hashem's interests in capital markets and investment include fundamental analysis, macroeconomics and geopolitical analysis. He is also developing his skills in the field of technical analysis and analysis of market or investor sentiment. He is currently working on a research project in the field of development economics, reflecting his interest in exploring and understanding the complexities of economic development and growth, particularly in emerging markets.
