Executive Board

The Stichting Wittenborg University Executive Board (the Executive) forms the management of Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences.

Its members are Peter Birdsall, Chair of the Executive Board (President) and Maggie Feng, CEO and Karen Penninga Director of Corporate Governance. 

The Executive reports to the Stichting Wittenborg University Advisory Board (below). Below is an overview of how the responsibilities at Board level are divided in the Wittenborg Executive.

Maggie Feng, MSc

Maggie Feng MSc is a Member of the Executive Board of the Wittenborg University Executive and, is CEO at the Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences in Apeldoorn (Headquarter). Wittenborg also opened its new location in Amsterdam in 2015 and her Vienna location in 2017, following by London in 2019. Although small, with more than 1000 students in 2019 growth is around 15% per year during the past 7 years, and it is one of the most international privately funded higher education institutes in the Netherlands, aiming to become a top ranking institute to contribute to Human Capital & Talent development. Students and staff at Wittenborg are from over 100 different countries/Regions.

Peter Birdsall

Peter Birdsall, MA.ed, graduated from Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in 1997. After this, Peter continued his studies through the UK Open University, completing a Master of Arts in Education Management. His degree was carried out during a period of employment at IJselland University in the Netherlands, as director of the international office at the Deventer Business School, and focused on three main areas: Peer Mentoring in (International) Higher Education, Curriculum Development in Higher International Education, Management of Higher Education.

Karen Penninga

Karen Penninga has been a member of the Executive Board since 2015 and has special responsibility for Strategy and Policy within the institute. She has experience in many disciplines, including HRM, finances, management, marketing, communication, student applications and registrations and facilities. Karen has worked for Wittenborg since 2004.
