Background

Karen Penninga has been a member of the Executive Board since 2015 and has special responsibility for Strategy and Policy within the institute. She has experience in many disciplines, including HRM, finances, management, marketing, communication, student applications and registrations and facilities. Karen has worked for Wittenborg since 2004.

Biography

Karen was born and raised in Deventer, a town near Apeldoorn. She started her working career at Matrix Agritech, an international company mainly selling and exporting farm machinery and equipment to Russia. There she was responsible for visa, travelling, support office and further administration. In this English-speaking work environment she gained a lot of knowledge and skills that have proved useful at Wittenborg. As a Dutch national she is very familiar with Dutch bureaucracy and is adept at dealing with local and national government.

Karen is a mother of two and she is a positive, open-minded person who particularly enjoys the personal contact with staff and students at Wittenborg.
