Couple who Worked Together Now Study Together at Wittenborg
The responsibilities of being both married and a full-time student abroad can be difficult to balance.
Among this September’s intake there is at least one married couple. Sofia Maraji and Babak Tavakoli Moghadam from Iran met while they were both working for a student recruitment agency in that country.
The couple has only been married for a month, yet joined other new students this week for Introduction Week activities and mingled with Wittenborg members of staff at an informal lunch on Thursday.
Sharing Accommodation with Other Students as Newlyweds
Both of them will be staying in the student accommodation provided by Wittenborg in Apeldoorn with other students. Is that not hard for them as newlyweds? “No, the room is very suitable to our needs and it will help having each other for support through our studies.”
Both are top-up students who will be doing the final year of the IBA Marketing and Communication programme. After their studies they hope to find employment in the Netherlands and learn from internship opportunities. They are also keen to learn Dutch as soon as possible.
Marriage, Motherhood and Studies
Lora Sinyangwe from Sweden, on the other hand, is a married mother of two. Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, she joined her husband in Sweden three years ago. “I plan to go home every holiday and my husband will also visit here. Luckily, both my boys are teenagers already.
“I came to study in the Netherlands because my preferred programme – an IBA in Logistics and International Trade – was not to be found in Sweden.” Before coming to Europe, Lora worked for a long time in Zimbabwe’s tourism industry.
