Background

Drs Rijn Platteel, member of the Advisory Board, was born in Amsterdam, but grew up in Frankfurt, Germany. After moving back to the Netherlands, he studied Economics at the University of Amsterdam and specialised in Real Estate and Urban Economics. After graduation, Rijn joined ABN Amro Bank as a management trainee. His first assignment was as Branch Manager in Groningen. He then switched to become an entrepreneur in real estate management at a company he had founded while being a student. He sold his company in 2018 and afterwards held various interim functions as General Manager at a real estate company and the Economic Board Arnhem-Nijmegen. Rijn is co-founder and owner of two startups: Palletbike and Urban Innovators.


Rijn has a long history of volunteer work. After serving as National President for Junior Chamber International, he became chairman of the Apeldoornse Mixed Hockeyclub. Both functions were rewarded with honorary memberships. Rijn currently chairs VNO-NCW Stedendriehoek, is a board member at the Gelder Energy Accord, chairs a supervisory board and holds several other smaller volunteer positions.
