Background

Selina White, B.L., Grad. Dip., gained a B.A. International degree in Legal Science and French from the National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland, and participated in the Erasmus programme at Université de Poitiers, France, for one academic year during her studies. She then obtained an LL.B. Bachelor of Laws degree also from the National University of Ireland, Galway, followed by a Graduate Diploma in European and Comparative Law from the University of Limerick, during which time she also worked as a part-time law tutor in Public (Constitutional) Law on an evening LL.B. programme. Selina was also awarded with a Professional Diploma in Legal French [Diplôme de Française Professionnel (Juridique B2)] from the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, France, in association with Alliance Française, Dublin, Ireland. Selina began her legal career working as a Paralegal/Legal Executive in a general practice law firm in Ireland where she worked for six years assisting and supporting the principal solicitor of the firm with the provision of professional legal services to personal and commercial clients in various areas of law. Selina then worked as a Judicial Research Assistant for The Courts Service of Ireland for three years, where she was assigned to provide extensive research, writing and administrative assistance and support to a Judge of the High Court, including providing high-quality editing, proof-reading and summarisation services, in particular for draft court judgments, and engaged in thorough and in-depth research of Irish, European and international case-law and legislation, together with research of reports, policies and publications of various NGOs and international human rights bodies. Following this, she gained a professional degree qualification as a Barrister-at-Law (qualified lawyer) from The Honourable Society of King’s Inns, Dublin, and was formally called to the Bar of Ireland by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Ireland in 2017. For the following five years, Selina practised as a Barrister-at-Law at the Bar of Ireland, specialising in providing courtroom advocacy, in-depth research and legal advice and opinions in complex legal matters in a broad mix of civil, commercial, and criminal litigation. During this time, Selina also gained experience as an independent legal consultant/contractor on numerous legal/commercial interdisciplinary projects, including large-scale forensic document review, analysis and e-Discovery projects, commercial banking compliance and regulatory investigations, commercial contract, property and environmental law advice and support, during which she collaborated with numerous other legal professionals, senior management and stakeholders. She also has an interest in the legal technology sector and was involved in providing presentation and moderation support for a legal technology and e-Litigation online dispute resolution/remote hearing platform. Selina relocated to the Netherlands to live with her Dutch partner and joined Wittenborg in August 2022 as the Education & Research Administrator supporting both the Education Department and Research Centre.
