Discovering the Netherlands Through Wittenborg's Summer School

Summer 2026 at Wittenborg is Taking Shape
Wittenborg’s Summer School in Apeldoorn offers more than academic development. It is a chance to study, travel and experience life in the Netherlands within a truly international environment.
Studying in Apeldoorn
Set in the heart of the Netherlands, Apeldoorn provides a calm and student-friendly base for the programme. Students stay in modern private studios close to campus, combining independence with comfort.
The programme blends interactive lectures, workshops and group projects focused on communication, leadership, marketing and digital innovation, including AI. Regional Admissions Manager Eunice Cheung describes it as “a dynamic programme that combines academic learning with hands-on activities and memorable cultural experiences.”
An International Classroom
One of the defining features of Wittenborg Summer School is its international classroom. Students are expected to join from across Europe and Asia, including countries such as Hungary, Czechia, Romania, Russia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Taiwan.
This diversity creates a collaborative learning environment where students work in international teams, share perspectives and develop intercultural communication skills. It is a practical way to build confidence and adaptability in a global setting.

Exploring the Netherlands
A key part of the experience is discovering Dutch culture through travel and excursions. Students visit destinations such as Amsterdam, Zaanse Schans, The Hague and Scheveningen Beach.
These trips reveal different sides of the Netherlands, from historic canals and museums to coastal landscapes and traditional windmills.
Previous participants highlighted experiences such as visiting Palace Het Loo, seeing Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring at the Mauritshuis Museum, tasting local cheeses at markets and exploring The Hague.
Learning by Doing
The Summer School focuses on interactive learning through group work, case studies and workshops. Students build teamwork, problem-solving and presentation skills in a practical environment.
Cheung notes that the 2026 programme includes even “more interactive sessions, group challenges and opportunities for students to explore the Netherlands.”

Skills for a Global Future
Beyond academics, students strengthen English and develop leadership, communication and strategic-thinking skills. The combination of study, collaboration and cultural exposure helps build a global mindset.
A Summer to Remember
During the Summer School, students form international friendships, gain confidence and experience life in a new cultural setting.
Students consistently point to the practical, hands-on approach. As one participant put it, “Working on cases in groups brought us together and sharing ideas made our answers more complete.”
Others highlight the fast-paced and interactive style of learning, including tools like Kahoot! and presentations that help build confidence and collaboration skills.
Students also mention cultural adjustment as part of the experience, from Dutch cycling culture to meeting people from different backgrounds, which often helps them become more independent and confident.
As Cheung explains, the programme is not just about studying. It is a chance to step outside your comfort zone, grow as a person and create lasting memories.
