An agreement between Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences and New European College (NEC) in Germany enables students to begin their studies in Munich through an agreed articulation and progression pathway and subsequently progress to a Wittenborg degree programme in the Netherlands.
Students in Munich follow a defined curriculum delivered through NEC that has been mapped against the corresponding Wittenborg curriculum, learning outcomes and academic level. Subject to successful completion of the agreed curriculum and meeting Wittenborg's admission and progression requirements, eligible study components completed in Munich may be recognised towards the Wittenborg degree programme.
Students then complete at least the final 25% of the degree programme at Wittenborg in the Netherlands, at its campus in Apeldoorn or study location in Amsterdam.
This pathway offers students the opportunity to experience living and studying in Germany before progressing to the Netherlands to complete an internationally recognised Dutch degree.
Important Notice for students planning to start their studies in Munich
Wittenborg - New European College
Students choosing this pathway begin their studies in Munich with Wittenborg's partner, New European College (NEC), under the articulation and progression agreement between NEC and Wittenborg.
NEC is responsible for the contractual arrangements relating to the student's period of study in Munich and invoices the student for the agreed services provided there.
Wittenborg separately assesses students for admission to the progression pathway and provides documentation setting out the conditions under which the student may subsequently progress into the relevant Wittenborg degree programme in the Netherlands.
Where a Wittenborg fee applies as part of these arrangements, the student may mandate NEC to make the relevant payment to Wittenborg on the student's behalf as part of the student's overall agreement with NEC.
Participation in the Munich pathway does not, by itself, constitute statutory enrolment in a Dutch-accredited Wittenborg degree programme under the Dutch Higher Education and Research Act (WHW).
Formal registration in the degree programme under the WHW takes place when the student has met Wittenborg's admission and progression requirements and commences the remaining part of the programme at Wittenborg in the Netherlands.
Academic Quality and Wittenborg Oversight
The Munich arrangement is an articulation and progression pathway between New European College and Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences.
NEC is responsible for delivering the agreed curriculum in Munich. Wittenborg is responsible for determining whether that curriculum, its delivery and assessment meet the academic standards required for subsequent recognition within the relevant Wittenborg degree programme.
The curriculum identified for the Munich pathway is mapped against Wittenborg's curriculum, intended learning outcomes, academic level and credit requirements.
As part of its quality assurance of the progression arrangement, Wittenborg reviews and approves the academic qualifications and suitability of teaching staff involved in delivering the agreed curriculum in Munich. These teaching staff are not employees of Wittenborg and are not members of Wittenborg's faculty for the purposes of the Dutch degree programme.
Wittenborg maintains academic oversight of the progression arrangement and monitors the delivery and assessment of the agreed curriculum. Wittenborg retains final authority to determine whether individual study components completed in Munich meet the academic requirements for recognition within the relevant Wittenborg degree programme.
This ensures that learning recognised upon progression is comparable in level, content, learning outcomes and assessment standards to the corresponding components of the Wittenborg curriculum.
Recognition of Study Completed in Munich
Successful completion of study components in Munich does not, by itself, constitute completion of credits within a Dutch-accredited Wittenborg degree programme.
Students who successfully complete the curriculum specified in the progression agreement, meet the required academic and assessment standards, satisfy Wittenborg's admission and progression requirements and subsequently enrol in the relevant Wittenborg degree programme in the Netherlands may receive recognition for eligible study components completed in Munich.
Subject to these requirements, students may normally progress with recognition of up to 75% of the programme requirements.
Students must complete at least the final 25% of the degree programme at Wittenborg in the Netherlands.
Wittenborg retains final authority for admission, recognition of credits, progression, graduation eligibility and the award of the degree.
Recognition and Degree Award
The bachelor's and master's degrees associated with this progression pathway are awarded exclusively by Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences.
New European College is not entitled to award Wittenborg bachelor's or master's degrees.
Wittenborg's relevant degree programmes in the Netherlands are accredited by the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO) and are offered in accordance with the Dutch Higher Education and Research Act (WHW).
The Munich phase is an articulation and progression arrangement and is not presented as a separately NVAO-accredited programme or as a German delivery location of Wittenborg's Dutch-accredited degree programme.
Students become formally enrolled in the relevant Dutch-accredited Wittenborg degree programme in accordance with Dutch higher education legislation when they progress to and commence the applicable part of their studies at Wittenborg in the Netherlands.
Wittenborg's Recognition in Germany
Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences is officially recognised as a foreign higher education provider in Bavaria, Germany, as listed by the relevant Bavarian authorities.
This recognition should not be confused with the accreditation or degree-awarding status of New European College (NEC). NEC does not award Wittenborg degrees.
Progression to the Netherlands
Students who successfully complete the agreed Munich curriculum and meet Wittenborg's progression requirements will be supported by Wittenborg's Admissions, Registry and Student Support teams in preparing for their progression to the Netherlands.
Students may complete the required final part of their degree programme at Wittenborg's main campus in Apeldoorn or its study location in Amsterdam.
Upon enrolment in the Wittenborg degree programme in the Netherlands, recognised study components completed through the Munich progression pathway are formally incorporated into the student's academic record in accordance with Wittenborg's applicable academic and examination regulations.
Students are then subject to Wittenborg's Education and Examination Guide (EEG), academic regulations and Graduation & Examination Board requirements in the same manner as other students enrolled in the relevant programme.
Successful completion of all programme requirements leads to the award of the relevant Dutch-accredited Wittenborg degree.
