Hubertus (Huub) Ruel, PhD, Associate Professor of Applied Sciences, is a senior scholar in the fields of International Business, International Relations, Human Resource Management and Technology.

He holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, alongside master’s degrees in Psychology and Theology. With 30 years of academic experience, he has held teaching and research positions at the University of Twente, Utrecht University, Kuwait-Maastricht Business School, the American University of Beirut and Matthias Corvinus Collegium in Budapest, serving as assistant professor, associate professor and senior visiting scholar. He also served as Professor of Applied Sciences at Hotelschool The Hague and Windesheim University of Applied Sciences.

His main areas of expertise include HRM and Technology, as well as the intersection of International Business and International Relations. He has published extensively in academic journals, co-edited around ten books and guest-edited numerous special issues for academic journals.

At Wittenborg, Ruel teaches International Management, Globalisation, Culture and Society and Introduction to Entrepreneurship. He also supervises student thesis projects.
