Hospitality and Tourism Conference Rescheduled Due to COVID-19

2021 EuroCHRIE Conference at Wittenborg Postponed until 2022

Due to COVID-19 and the continued travel restrictions in many countries, the annual Hospitality and Tourism Educators Conference (EuroCHRIE), due to be held in Denmark next week, has been postponed until 2021. Consequently the 2021 conference, which was supposed to be hosted by WUAS of Applied Science in Apeldoorn next year, has now been moved to 2022.

Wittenborg CEO, Maggie Feng, who was elected Director of Conferences to the EuroCHRIE Board earlier this year, made the announcement. She confirmed that ROC Aventus in Apeldoorn will still be the venue partner. "There have been many calls, meetings and enquiries in the past two weeks and now we finally have confirmation. All other partners and vendors - like the city of Apeldoorn, accommodation facilities and Het Loo Palace -  have also been informed."

The conference in Aalborg, Denmark, will now take place from 27 – 30 September in 2021. Dates for the 2022 conference in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, are yet to be decided but is expected to take place in the second half of October.

In a statement on their website, the EuroCHRIE Board said: "Due to COVID-19 and the continued global travel restrictions and its various effects and the measures countries are taking to guarantee the safety of inhabitants, UCN in close collaboration with the EuroCHRIE board has decided to postpone the Annual EuroCHRIE Conference 2020.

"While all possible options, including hybrid forms, were explored to avoid postponement, COVID-19 travel regulations globally have presented a barrier for nearly all delegates to attend, and thus the joint decision has been taken to postpone the conference to September 27th – 30th in 2021, which will be held in Aalborg, Denmark.

"EuroCHRIE is an important platform for networking, knowledge sharing, development and research. The annual conference is an important and sociable event, and we were truly hoping to meet fellow CHRIE members again in person after the difficult times. We were really looking forward to welcoming you and organizing this fantastic event and making it a great success and we certainly aim to make September 2021 memorable too. Furthermore, EuroCHRIE are developing new opportunities to stay in touch between now and September 2021. More about this will be communicated later."
