Grolsch Drakenboot Festival

26 - 28 June 13:00 – 15:00 (Apeldoorn)

The annual Drankenboot (Dragon Boat) Festival will take place at the end of June in Apeldoorn, the Dutch city where Wittenborg University is located. The three-day festival usually draws a crowd of more than 100 000 people. This year Wittenborg students will participate by assisting the organizers to do a survey among festival-goers about their overall experience of the event and the value it adds to the city. The exercise is part of Block 7 Project Week activities for students in Phase 1 and 2.

The Festival kicks off on the Friday evening with a concert. Saturday and Sunday it is time for the excitement of the boat races. According to Chinese tradition about 100 teams, with an estimated 2500 participants, compete for various titles, cheered on by spectators and fans from the canal banks.

As if that is not exciting enough, there will also be a number of street theatre acts, performances by DJ’s as well as bands and last, but not least, lots of food stalls, shows, football and jumping castles for the kids.
