Here’s a simple and easy-to-follow list of events happening around the city — perfect for making the most of your summer break.

BAAAARD at Amsterdamse Bostheater 
1 July – 13:00 
Start your summer with BAAAARD, a wordless performance full of colourful characters like hipsters, pirates and even Santa Claus. This 45-minute show is packed with visual surprises and perfect for families (ages 4+) and international visitors. Bring a blanket and snacks for an afternoon of laughter in the open-air forest. Tickets cost €14 for adults and €9.50 for kids. Shows run throughout July.

ARTIS Summer Nights 
Saturdays in July and August – 19:00 
Enjoy late summer evenings at ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo. The zoo stays open late on Saturdays with live music from 19:00 to 20:00 at the Bandstand. Wander the gardens, see the animals and soak up the relaxed atmosphere with different artists performing each week.

Karel Martens Exhibition at Stedelijk Museum

Indulge in the flavours of Haarlem at Haarlem Culinair, held in the Grote Markt. Sample delicious dishes from local restaurants and enjoy a lively atmosphere with music and good company. It’s a great way to discover the best of the region’s cuisine.

Dekmantel Festival at Amsterdamse Bos 
31 July to 3 August – various times 
Dance to quality house and techno at Dekmantel Festival, set in the beautiful Amsterdamse Bos. This three-day festival brings together top DJs and a natural setting, creating a unique experience for music lovers.

PreSail IJmond 
18 and 19 August – all day 
Celebrate the arrival of tall ships at PreSail IJmond, a free festival in the ports of IJmuiden and Beverwijk. The event focuses on maritime culture, innovation and sustainability and leads up to the main Sail Amsterdam festivities.

SAIL Amsterdam 2025 
20 to 24 August – all day 
Join the celebrations for Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary at Sail Amsterdam. With over 10,000 ships and millions of visitors expected, this huge event honours the city’s maritime history with parades, shows and activities for all ages.

Pluk de Nacht – Open-Air Cinema 
Various Dates in August – from 19:00 
Relax under the stars at Pluk de Nacht, Amsterdam’s beloved open-air film festival at Stenen Hoofd. Enjoy international films, cocktails and a friendly atmosphere. There’s a children’s programme on selected nights too. Book your tickets early to secure a good spot.
