Apeldoorn Summer 2026: Festivals, Culture and Outdoor Events in July

Apeldoorn Enjoys a Summer of Festivals, Culture and Outdoor Events in July 2026

Summer in Apeldoorn offers a varied programme of festivals, live music, cultural events and outdoor experiences throughout July. Whether you're looking for live entertainment, local markets or days out in nature, July is one of the best months to experience everything Apeldoorn has to offer.

Culture, Heritage & Community Events

July begins with the Roots of Freedom Festival on 5 July at Van Reekumplein behind GIGANT. The free festival celebrates freedom, heritage and cultural diversity through live music, educational talks, workshops and Caribbean and Surinamese food. Throughout the day, visitors can also take part in creative activities, community initiatives and family-friendly programmes.

From 6 July until the end of August, Paleis Het Loo becomes the Summer Palace, offering additional activities across its gardens and grounds. Alongside the permanent exhibitions and palace tours, visitors can enjoy outdoor games, family activities, seasonal events and summer concerts.

Live Music & Summer Festivals

Music takes centre stage throughout July. Apeldoorn Celebrates Summer arrives at City Beach SOAP on 12 July with performances from Dutch artists including Monique Smit, Danny de Munk, Max Hoedt, Party Harry, DJ Meggy V and John de Vree.

Also beginning on 12 July, Music on Sunday returns to the city centre, with free acoustic performances taking place across cafés and terraces at multiple locations throughout Apeldoorn.

Later in the month, City Oasis transforms Van Reekumplein into a weekly Sunday festival from 19 July until the end of August. Visitors can enjoy live bands, DJs, food trucks, children's activities and silent discos in a relaxed outdoor setting.

To round off the month, TAPT Festival arrives at Zwitsal on 31 July and 1 August. The popular drinks festival combines food, music, games and entertainment, including Disco Bingo, karaoke and live DJs.

Markets & Outdoor Experiences

The Antique and Curio Market returns to Market Square on 23 July, bringing together antique dealers and collectors from across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Visitors can browse hundreds of stalls before relaxing at one of the nearby cafés and terraces.

For those looking to spend time in nature, Apenheul continues its exclusive morning walks throughout the summer. Small guided groups can enter the park before opening hours, watch the lemurs begin their day and learn more about the animals from experienced keepers.

Looking Ahead

Students arriving in Apeldoorn for the new academic year should also keep an eye out for STUFU, the city's annual introduction party, taking place at GIGANT on 26 August. The event brings together new and returning students for an evening of live music, DJs and social activities before the start of the academic year.
