Your Guide to November Events, Markets, and Festivities in Amsterdam

November is a fantastic month to explore Amsterdam, with the city buzzing with culture, lights and cosy winter events. It all kicks off on 1 November with Museum Night, when museums across the city stay open late for exhibitions, performances and parties. Highlights include storytelling at the Allard Pierson Museum, the Rijksmuseum Rave, live music at the Van Gogh Museum and expressive art sessions at FOAM. The perfect way to dive into Amsterdam’s cultural scene.

On 2 November, Allerzielen at Vondelpark offers a serene, reflective evening where visitors commemorate loved ones with candles, music, poems and floating boats on the pond. The communal atmosphere is magical and unforgettable. The event runs from 18:30 to 20:30.

For a unique immersive experience at the Fabrique des Lumières, the Lying Concert: Einaudi’s Underwater on 6 November surrounds you as you lie on a mat with giant sea projections, while live piano music fills the room. Tickets start from €25. That same evening, De Bijenkorf Christmas Party brings festive cheer with lights, live performances, gourmet food and holiday inspiration. Tickets are approximately €50 and include food and drinks.

Fashion and music lovers have plenty to enjoy on 8 and 9 November. The Fair Priced Vintage market, Europe’s largest, returns with free entry (reservation required) for vintage treasure hunting. On 8 November, dance enthusiasts can head to the Salsa Party at Papa Zatarra, with a free try-out at 21:30 and the party kicking off at 22:00.

The Ice Rink at Museum Square also opens on 8 November, offering skating, dinner, bingo and a silent disco; tickets are around €14 and the rink is open until January.

On 9 November, start your day with a themed yoga session at the Van Gogh Museum, inspired by the life and work of the legendary painter. Classes start at 9:00 and tickets are about €14.

From 14 to 30 November, the Het Amsterdamse Winterterras transforms the Olympisch Stadion into a cosy outdoor pop-up with heaters, firepits, live music, comfort food and hot cocktails. Tickets start from €22.50 and the terrace is open from 16:00 to 23:00.

Film lovers should mark 13 to 23 November for the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), one of the world’s leading documentary festivals showcasing premieres, international talent and powerful storytelling.

Finally, from 27 November onwards, the Amsterdam Light Festival illuminates the canals with glowing installations under this year’s theme, “Legacy”. You can walk or sail along the route and experience Amsterdam as an open-air gallery. Visit the official website for tickets and information.
