The purpose of the module is to help students understand concepts and analytical tools which they can apply and practice. Most of the case examples and case studies lend themselves to an analytical approach, and students should be set tasks that require them to produce detailed and practical solutions.
  • Understanding the concept and elements in the field of corporate strategy
  • Learn the framework for thinking about strategic management
  • Analyse how strategy development and strategic management actually occur in organizations and how it can be assessed
  • Understand organizational strategic position and factors underpinning the strategies
  • Explain how strategic research tools can be used to identify company decision makers and how to influence them with the aim of achieving campaign goals

Chapter 8.  Organising for success

Deals with how we organize for success; looking at types of structure, the management process, relationships within and between organizations.

Chapter 9. Enabling Success

Deals with how we enable success in respect of how we manage people, information, finance and technology and how to integrate resources.

Chapter 10. Managing Strategic Change

Deals with how we manage strategic change in respect of diagnosing change, management styles and roles, levels for managing strategic change and the potential pitfalls of change management.

Chapter 11. Understanding Strategy Development

Looks at understanding the development of strategy, especially intended and emergent strategies, multiple process development and how we manage strategic development process.

  • Average reading and understanding material – 5 pages per hour
  • Easy reading and understanding  material – 7 pages per hour
