Peter Odgers has a broad experience of the hospitality industry, after graduating, his career started as a chef and then developed through to all aspects of operational management in both large and small companies before working as a financial controller for both Holiday Inns and Forte Hotels.

His career in education has involved lecturing finance and business related subjects at all levels in a number of UK hotel schools, Dean of a Swiss hotel school and a visiting lecturer to colleges in Australia, USA, Canada, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, France, Iran and Bulgaria.


Peter Odgers has written three books in the areas of hospitality operations and management one of which has been adopted as a standard text by the HCIMA and other UK academic bodies. His Master of Philosophy in International Hospitality Management was awarded by the University of Buckingham in 1996.

He has been a consultant to the EU Phare tourism projects in Romania and Bulgaria, the University of Strathclyde hotel development project in Iran and CERT the training division of the Irish Tourism Agency in benchmarking best practice for front office service provision. He is also adviser to a number of Swiss hotel schools in post-graduate education.

At the University of Brighton he is senior lecturer in hospitality management teaching international management, business enterprise and applied management case studies to under and post graduate students. He is currently international partnerships coordinator for SSM and external examiner for the Manchester Metropolitan University post-graduate diploma programme at UCCR, Brig in Switzerland and at Thames Valley University, London.
