Lecturer integral sustainability

Background:

My interest and work in economic and societal transition made me realise that also sustainability has its boundaries when we remain focused on our current systems and make sustainability part of this. The question "How do we want to relate with each other and with our environment" is an important focus in my work and reaches beyond sustainability and our current existing economic and societal systems. For me the answer to this question is a fundament for the system we are heading to, which is much more value and social based. I'd like to take an active role in this transition.

In addition, I do not only work with the cognitive aspects of systems change. Systems represent a kind of wholeness. This requires us to see ourselves as whole beings. Therefore, in my classes I challenges my students to use their different intelligences: cognitive, emotional, physical and spiritual.

What do you do at Wittenborg?
Please mention your current research, Papers and/or books.

My driving force is my eagerness to contribute to a just world. I found this in the work I did for Triodos Bank, Medecines sans Frontieres, Cordaid, CREM, Nyenrode New Business School and others. I believe in the possibility that we all together can create a better world, but that I can only do so by practicing what I preach.

My main professional focus has been social sustainability and justice in the Netherlands, Europe, Africa and Asia. I gained a lot of knowledge, experience and skills through the contexts I lived in, the people I met and/or worked with, the projects I initiated and carried out. I worked on projects concerning a.o.

* New economy, leadership and economic transition;
* Socially and Environmentally just supply chains;
* Developing/co-creating innovative educational programmes combining systems thinking, leadership, integral sustainability;
* CSR-strategy development & implementation

In addition, I am a trainer in active meditation, the use of body/mind work and leadership. I enjoy exploring nature by foot or bike, to swim in open water (or in the swimming pool when it is too cold) and like reading books.
